Will Wiccan and Speed Debut in the MCU with Avengers 4? I Am Ready!

young avengers wiccan and speed in Avengers 4 casting call

I don’t know what the new casting call for Avengers 4 really means, but I’m going to hold on to it until the MCU decides to rip it out of my hands. Wiccan and Speed might make an appearance on the big screen come 2019!

Avengers 4 is set to close Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be setting up things for future titles. Details have been scarce. However, a new casting call for identical twin baby boys has got fans speculating.

According to Auditions Free, the baby twins are only required for a two-day shoot. As far as knowledge of Avengers lore is concerned, the only twin boys are Wiccan and Speed. Also, I don’t care if they only appear for a minute in the film as long as it means that the MCU is thinking of introducing the Young Avengers. A team of younger superheroes just sounds like the next logical step for the franchise to take.

If Wiccan and Speed are set to appear, it could mean that Scarlet Witch and Vision’s relationship will grow during the franchise’s Infinity War arc.

A set photo has already shown them sharing a kiss. What’s interesting is that Vision is in human form. It could be a dream sequence or even a glimpse into the couple’s potential future.

In the comics, the Scarlet Witch used magic to create her children. However, her kids later reincarnated as identical twins Wiccan and Speed. Wiccan, or Billy Kaplan, has magical reality-altering powers while Speed, or Tommy Shepard, as the name implies, is a speedster. Both brothers went on to become members of the Young Avengers.

Adding Wiccan in the MCU will also mean giving the spotlight to an openly gay character. Furthermore, Billy also happens to be one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Comics Universe.

I’m not sure if the MCU will definitely make a Young Avengers movie (no one is straight on that team). Disney is a business and risking a major film being banned in certain countries is something the studio will want to avoid.

However, I’ll be fine if we get a well-written and well-budgeted Young Avengers series on Disney’s streaming service. Warner Bros. is going full-steam ahead with the Teen Titans live-action series, and Disney can counter that with a teen superhero team filled with all the queer!

Feel free to share your thoughts about Wiccan and Speed possibly being part of the MCU? Will their mutant status be retconned in the comics? Are you excited for Avengers 4?
