The upcoming Batman Ninja anime film was first announced in October 2017. Now, the first footage has been released and it looks amazing!

An exclusive poster accompanied the announcement of Batman Ninja during New York Comic Con in October this year. The premise alone was enough to get fans talking about the collaboration between Warner Bros. Japan and DC Entertainment.

Story writer Kazuki Nakashima (Kill La Kill) and character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) have worked together to bring a fresh spin to iconic characters in Batman Ninja. Jumpei Mizusaki serves as director. I’m a fan of the new looks!

According to current details, Batman and the Bat Family, along with a number of Gotham’s criminals, get transported through time and space all the way back to Medieval Japan.

Director Jumpei Mizusaki has said that the upcoming animated film is meant to show how Japan sees the Caped Crusader rather than how Bruce Wayne sees Japan.

The film stars Kōichi Yamadera as Batman, Wataru Takagi as the Joker, Rie Kugimiya as Harley Quinn, and Ai Kakuma as Catwoman.

More plot details, complete voice cast, and a specific DVD and Blu-ray release dates for Batman Ninja are yet to be revealed. However, you can expect it to be released in Japan sometime in 2018. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be handling distribution.

Other films fan can look forward to next year include Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Batman: Gotham by Gaslight.

Batman and a couple of characters from the franchise were also given an anime-makeover in an enjoyable animated short. 2008’s Batman: Gotham Knight also played around with a similar anime-art style.

Are you excited about Batman Ninja? What do you think of the art style? Let us know.
