The first look for Boomerang has been released and y’all when I say I am excited about this show! Co-produced by Lena Waithe and Halle Berry, the upcoming queer-inclusive romantic comedy is set to premiere come February 12, 2019.

The upcoming series picks up about 25 years after the events of 1992’s Boomerang which featured a stellar cast. The Boomerang TV show follows the lives of the children of the original cast as they try to make their mark in the professional world.

Check out the first look! Look at that diverse writer’s room! Also, if you pause at the 49-second mark you can see what to expect from each episode.

The 10-episode half-hour series is being produced by Halle Berry, Lena Waithe, and co-produced by BET Networks and Paramount Television.

As for the cast, Tequan Richmond plays Jacqueline Boyer’s son named Bryson while Tetona Jackson plays Marcus and Angela Graham’s daughter named Simone.

Bryson has been described as resourceful, tough, and charming. He is also self-assured and isn’t afraid to be vulnerable. Simone is privileged and driven to a fault.

Queer character Ari (Martin) is a digital producer with big dreams. He is “handsome, charming, effortlessly confident, and has an edge and swagger that is completely disarming. Ari doesn’t believe in labels. He’s an equal opportunist when it comes to dating.”

There is also Tia (Milan), a misguided performance artist with high ambitions. Tia is “a classically trained dancer who wants to topple the patriarchy. She’s charismatic and wildly unique. Tia is an activist at heart, but she doesn’t mind being a little ratchet every now and then.”

Paula Newman has a recurring role as Victoria Johnson.

Ben Cory Jones (Underground, Insecure) is attached to the project as showrunner.

On paper, the Boomerang TV series sounds great, and I did enjoy the first look. Let’s see if this show is able to be successful when it premieres on February 12, 2019. Fingers crossed!
