Capcom announces Resident Evil: Revelations 2!

10612844_290525774464564_8249717384017320634_n It looks like 2015 is going to be a good year for Resident Evil fans. The sequel to the very entertaining Resident Evil: Revelations game has been confirmed by Capcom. Let’s see what we know!

Resident Evil: Revelations was initially released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. After garnering universal acclaim, Capcom released it for PC, PS3, Wii U and the Xbox 360 in 2013, and that’s when I played it. The story took place between the events of R.E 4 and R.E 5.

Last week I stumbled on a supposed leak for Resident Evil: Revelations 2. I didn’t pay much attention to it because R.E rumors are always rampant on the Internet. Capcom, however, has announced at Sony’s pre-TGS PlayStation press conference that Revelations 2 will indeed be released sometime in 2015.

The surprising thing about the announcement was that the sequel won’t be coming to Nintendo 3DS, the platform where the game’s predecessor debuted. The new installment in the franchise will launch on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, as well as for PC.

Also unlike the original, the story will not feature Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as the protagonists. The setting will also be different from the original where most of the adventure occurred on various zombie-infected ships. Capcom remained tightlipped about the plot.

I’m personally okay with the news as long as it doesn’t feature Leon S. Kennedy. I don’t have anything against Leon but he’s more or less the Wolverine of the R.E game franchise. He was already featured in R.E 6 and I want to see other characters take the lead in this one. It’s been ages since we saw Claire Redfield and I hope she ends up being revealed as the protagonist for R.E: Revelations 2 when it hits shelves next year.

Capcom will also give fans a Resident Evil 1 remake in 2015.
