Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’ve always been an avid reader and see books not only as a way to learn something, but also as a vehicle to take me to places all over the world. My imagination can be very vivid sometimes! As a child, I read romance stories or mysteries. Now, I tend to enjoy mysteries more. Having spent almost 30 years as an elementary teacher, some of my most favorite times were spent reading stories to children. I’ve also been a freelance photographer and a writer of poetry.

I’ve read Sam, The Superkitty. How did the idea of a superhero cat come to you?

Sammy, my younger cat, does such funny things! I combined his antics and my imagination in the book. Since he protects his family from harm, I decided he needed to be a superhero.

Would it be right of me to say that I found Sam to be a bit selfish? I mean, he’s not your regular angel-like hero?

As with all cats, he can be a bit selfish. No, he is by no means an angel in the book or in real life! Haha!

Due to the content of your book, I have to ask. Who is your favorite superhero?

My favorite superhero was always Superman.

What authors have inspired you and your work?

I’ve always wanted to write a crime novel like James Patterson. I also enjoy medical thrillers like those by Robin Cook.

What made you want to write children’s book?

The enjoyment I got from watching kids giggle and laugh and get involved in whatever book I read to them. Kids love animals, so this was a natural.

Any future works you would like us to know about?

I’m working on another Sam, the Superkitty adventure which I hope to have out by the first of December in time for Christmas!
