A Child’s Play TV Series Might Become Real! I’m Ready For More Chucky!

A Child’s Play TV series might become real down the line and I’m so ready for it!

According to Bloody Disgusting, a TV series is in development by Don Mancini (the creator of the Child’s Play franchise) and producer David Kirschner. The important thing to note is that the TV series will be a continuation and not a reboot. The story will reportedly pick up from where Cult of Chucky, the seventh film in the franchise, left things.

We plan to use Child’s Play in the title,” said Mancini. “We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.”

Furthermore, it was confirmed by Mancini that Chucky’s longtime voice actor Brad Dourif will reprise his role for the eight-part hour-long series. There isn’t a lot of information about the TV series but I’m still very excited about it. Do keep in mind that a possible TV series doesn’t mean there won’t be another film in the franchise.

I’ve watched 2017’s Cult of Chucky and due to how things ended, there are a lot of interesting routes the story can take. Also, for those wondering, I do think Cult of Chucky is one of the better films in the franchise.

Continuing the story as a TV show worked very well for the Evil Dead franchise with the debut of Ash vs Evil. So, it can work out for Child’s Play too.

Don Mancini, who is openly gay (and has included queer-themes and characters in the Child’s Play franchise), knows his horror and has experience working on TV shows. His credentials include Hannibal and Channel Zero. That’s why I have my fingers crossed a Child’s Play TV series becomes a reality very soon.
