Comic Con Stockholm: Interview with Mehcad Brooks

Brooks

Last weekend at Comic Con Stockholm, I had the chance to talk with Mehcad Brooks about Supergirl and his character’s future.

Brooks has been on TV for many years. You most likely remember him as Eggs in True Blood, Terrence in Necessary Roughness, or Matthew in Desperate Housewives. He now plays the iconic character James (Jimmy) Olsen on CW’s Guardian - Mehcad BrooksSupergirl. The show is now in its second season, and things are starting to change for James. His romance with Kara/Supergirl got nipped in the bud and he became CatCo’s CEO, replacing Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). It has recently been revealed that James will become DC’s superhero Guardian.

Brooks seemed very happy to be at Comic Con Stockholm and meet his fans. He has a bigger-than-life personality that immediately makes you at ease. His panels were both funny and interesting.

During the interview, I discussed with him what will lead James to take on the Guardian’s costume and how he adapts to all these new changes. He also shared his reaction when he learned that he would become a superhero right before SDCC. While he stayed tight-lipped about whether James will be part of the upcoming crossover between Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, he confirmed that James will be fully part of the musical episodes with The Flash. We talked about diversity and representation in Hollywood and how, despite some improvement, there is still a long way to go for minorities.
