‘Finding Destiny’ with Author Katrina Hart!

Finding Destiny by Katrina Hart

Today we have author Katrina Hart with us. Check out our exclusive interview with the author where we get to know more about her work and inspirations.

Katrina Hart is the author of Finding Destiny and she also runs an interesting blog.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Katrina but I was always called Katie. I live in the East of England with my family, and Holly and Smokey, my two cats, as well as Jessie, our dog. I’m a total night person. I love walking under the stars listening to music and thinking of my novels and characters. I love nothing more than to stay up late writing and reading a good book.

When were you bit by the ‘writing’ bug?

I always loved reading growing up and imagining new endings to books. I used to write little stories about my cat turning into a king when I was younger, as well as kept up a diary every year. But honestly the writing bug really took hold a couple of years ago in the summer when I had a go at an online writing  course. I had a really lovely tutor who helped me focus on my stories and getting them out of my head and onto the page. That first course was where Finding Destiny began and I haven’t been able to stop writing since. I love nothing more than writing short stories in-between my novels and following my characters to the end of their journey.

Who are the other authors who have inspired your work?

There are many authors, some new, who inspired me. One of the authors was Ciara Gold. I loved reading her books ever since I got my first Kindle. I also get very inspired by historical romance and romance books: Ruth Ann Nordin’s Loving Eliza and Kshitij’s Until You Came Along and Kendra Olson’s The Forest King’s Daughter. As well as other books such as Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter and Jane Austin’s Emma.  I read so much, I think most books inspire me to write.

Tell us a bit about Finding Destiny. What kind of readers will it appeal to?

Finding Destiny is my first released novel in e-book format. It’s about a lad called Alex who one night goes to find his sister’s pony, but little did he know that night would change his life in ways he could never imagine when he finds himself drinking a blue drink that changes his whole life forever. Now he has to get to know the world around him and take on the responsibilities that have been thrust upon his shoulders to save the people he loves.

Finding Destiny will appeal to adults, YA, and fantasy readers alike.

Finding Destiny author Katrina HartTell us a bit about the blog you run.

My blog Writing, Inspiration, Muses has a bit of everything, mostly book related. I love doing author and character interviews on there. It’s always lovely to hear about other author’s books and what inspired them to write. And it is so much fun to hear from the characters from books in blog interviews.

I also share some of my short stories like The Night Her Soul Found Freedom and Character Intervention and, most recently, celebrated Finding Destiny’s first year out in the book world. There are even some posts from my cats’ and dog’s point of view on there.

Would you like to share any advice for writers who have just started?

My advice for any writer starting on their own writing journey is to write to live the adventure and get soaked up in the worlds and characters they’re following. And to never give up; if you have a story to tell, write it and keep working on it until you are happy. Also remember that there is no right or wrong way to write or tell a story, so just follow your characters and jump into their world and enjoy your time writing.

What are your thoughts regarding self and traditional publishing?

I think there is a place for both traditional and self publishing. I think self publishing gives writers a chance to take control of their own work and do everything themselves and traditional writers have the help of a publishing company behind them to share their creative vision with. Both give the end result of getting new and great books out there for readers to read and I think that’s a great thing.

Are there any upcoming works we should know about?

My second novel The Lost Town Of Man’s Crossing is complete. And I’m hoping to have it out at some point soon. I’m also editing my third novel Thawing Hearts as well as writing another and some short stories.
