Hit The Floor Season 4 Gets An All-Female Writing Staff

Hit the Floor season 4

Hit the Floor continues being a positive example of representation and diversity both off and on screen. Hit the Floor Season 4 will boast an all-female writing staff.

BET picked up Hit the Floor Season 4 and fans are happy that they’ll get to see the show soon enough. Creator James LaRosa made the announcement on social media.

Hit the Floor previously aired on VH1. The story revolves around the Los Angeles Devils basketball team as well as the L.A. Devil Girls dancers. There’s lots of drama and mysteries thrown in to make one very enjoyable show. It also boasts a main POC cast and impressive queer representation.

Some other shows have also gone all-female behind the scenes too. The first season of Queen Sugar only had female directors. Harlots (an awesome show on Hulu) features an all-female directing and writing team. Netflix’s Marvel’s Jessica Jones hired a team of female directors for its second season. Hit the Floor isn’t behind any of these shows either. The entire season one only had female directors back in 2013.

I’m all for bringing in female talent, especially if it’s media concerning women. Wonder Woman would’ve been a very different movie if Patty Jenkins hadn’t directed it. Almost all of media is still suffering from the male gaze and that doesn’t do any favors to female characters. Even Michelle Rodriguez spoke out about how the highly successful The Fast and Furious franchise treated women. Gillian Anderson has always been vocal about the entire thing.

No premiere date for Hit the Floor Season 4 has been announced by BET yet.
