Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 1×36 Review: The Graduation Exam Begins!

Boruto anime episode 36 review Graduation Exam Begins
Shino, Anko, and Konohamaru in Boruto anime ‘The Graduation Exam Begins!’

The Academy graduation exams finally began this week in Boruto. While our little heroes were very motivated during ‘The Graduation Exam Begins!,’ they’ll need to do a lot better to pass the tests.

Kakashi wasn’t joking around when he said that he won’t go easy on the students. ‘The Graduation Exams Begins!’ opened with Boruto and his classmates finishing up a written test. Shino wanted his students to cheat to observe their skills related to collecting intel. However, the funny thing was how Boruto was able to pass with full marks without cheating. While Boruto’s personality is very similar to Naruto, unlike his father, our young protagonist is a genius.

The practical part of the examination is where the action took place. The rules were simple enough. Each student was given a headband. Shino, Anko, and Konohamaru served as Kakashi’s bodyguards. The students had to hit the target on the bodyguard’s chests to defeat them. If they lost their headband during the process, they would fail. Also, Kakashi had a single bell that the students had to take from him. The student who was able to take the bell would pass the exam.

Immediately the students scattered, which was the instructors’ plan all along because it was easier to take the students down one-by-one. Only Shikadai was able to see through the plan and he stuck close to his teammates. This led to Shikadai, Chocho, and Inojin facing off against Anko. However, before things could grow worse, the rest of the students came to Shikadai’s aid. I liked the little battle and I’m interested in seeing what Anko will do. I’m also hoping that we’ll get to see Shikadai use his brain to come up with an impressive strategy.

Salad and Sumire ended up going against Konohamaru. Mitsuki took on Shino, and Boruto went after Kakashi. You could tell that the instructors were holding back while battling kids. Even though Mitsuki took down Shino, even he knew that the outcome of the battle would’ve been a lot different if Shino had decided to go all out. I’m kind of disappointed we didn’t get to see the fight between the two.

As for the battle between Kakashi and Boruto, it was clear that Boruto wasn’t going to win, at least not yet. Kakashi doesn’t like Boruto carefree nature. So, I hope our little protagonist is able to learn something during the exam.

What did you think of Boruto this week? Did you enjoy ‘The Graduation Exam Begins!’? Let us know.
