Halle Berry Joins “John Wick: Chapter 3” Alongside Keanu Reeves

Halle Berry John Wick 3 Keanu Reeves

The rumors of Lionsgate wanting Halle Berry to star in John Wick: Chapter 3 have finally come true. The Oscar-winner has said yes and will be seen alongside Keanu Reeves when John Wick 3 hits theatres next year!

I am a huge Halle Berry fan and I have been hoping she would agree to join the highly successful and very diverse John Wick franchise ever since the rumors about her potential casting surfaced.

Halle shared the news on social media, letting fans know about the film’s release date as well as the name of her character.

John Wick 3 picks up after the events of John Wick 2. Here’s the official synopsis:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract.

John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

Details about Halle’s role have not been confirmed. However, during the casting rumors, it was revealed the role was of the film’s female lead, “20-40, who has a small child.”

The first film in the franchise was released back in 2014. It went on to gross $88.7 million worldwide on an estimated budget of $30 million. The second film, released in 2017 and having a budget of $40 million, grossed $171.5 million worldwide. The franchise continues to do well on DVD and Blu-ray sales.

John Wick: Chapter 3 is looking at a May 17, 2019, release date. Chad Stahelski will continue to serve as the director.

Time will tell if John Wick will continue with his solo-series or if Chad Stahelski will focus on expanding the franchise with other characters and settings. There’s also a TV series in the works.
