It seems that with each new promo for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, viewers are treated to chill-inducing emotional roller coasters. MOVIECLIPS’s official YouTube account released the alleged final trailer for Mockingjay, out November 21, and it features the moment that Katniss fans have all been waiting for:

FINALLY. The shivery, powerful message to President Snow from Katniss: “If we burn, you burn with us!”

Beware of slight spoilers ahead:

I referenced that moment as one of the scenes I was most looking forward to in the film adaptation of the final book, and while this quick look in the trailer does not have the full impact of the entire scene, I was more than pleased with Jennifer Lawrence’s delivery of the line. While reactions to Lawrence’s portrayal of Katniss have been mixed (not including those who aren’t certain about Katniss as a character), I think it’s obvious that she’s a solid actor, and with the emotional trauma of Catching Fire and the upcoming Mockingjay, it’s nice to see that she has basically breathed new life into this complicated character.

Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 1.06.00 PMI’m also looking forward to Josh Hutcherson’s portrayal of the brainwashed Peeta because, as the trailer above demonstrated, we’re not going to just witness a bland, dead-inside, Capitol-controlled Peeta. I sincerely hope the filmmakers provide a deeper view of the torture Peeta endured and his own struggles against it, a topic that I felt the novel glossed over.

As we creep closer to the release date, I find myself with repeatedly higher hopes for this film. So far, Catching Fire has been the strongest film out of The Hunger Games saga, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that Mockingjay blows us all away.

What were your thoughts about the new Mockingjay trailer? Will you be seeing it at a midnight showing like I probably will?
