Itachi Shinden to Start in Naruto Shippuden Next Week!

The Jiraiya Ninja Scrolls finally came to an end this week to give rise to the much-anticipated Itachi Shinden (The True Legend of Itachi) arc in Naruto Shippuden.

The Jiraiya Ninja Scrolls arc has got to be one of the worst Naruto Shippuden filler ever. It was so bad that I stopped reviewing the anime for months. However, this week’s episode of Naruto Shippuden concluded the dreadful arc and gave fans a taste of Itachi Shinden. It showed Dan waking Tsunade up from a dream where she had been reading Jiraiya’s story, and getting ready to go to the Kage Summit. Now that is a filler arc I wouldn’t mind watching. Tsunade’s dream under the ultimate genjutsu should’ve been about spending time with Dan and her brother rather than spending hours reading some boring novel that Jiraiya wrote.

One of the reasons I’m excited about Itachi Shinden is that it is the first novel from the franchise to be made into an anime. This gives me hope that we might see the Hiden series get anime adaptations as well. Sakura Hiden deserves an anime! In fact, all of the Hiden novels deserve one.

Itachi Shinden is written by Takashi Yano, and Masashi Kishimoto provided the illustration. It also has Kishimoto’s seal of approval, so the upcoming filler can be considered as canon. The story revolves around a four-year old Itachi Uchiha, his journey through the ninja world as he grows up, and how he became the character fans are familiar with.
