Trailer for Jordan Peele’s Film “Us” Has Fans Already Coming up with Interesting Theories!

Lupita Nyong'o Us 2019 film Jordan Peele

After his Oscar-winning movie Get Out, people can’t wait to see what Jordan Peele has in store with Us. A creepy first trailer was recently released and of course, fans have shared some interesting theories.

Written and directed by Oscar winner Jordan Peele, Us has a stellar cast which includes Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther), Winston Duke (Black Panther), Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Tim Heidecker, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman), and Anna Diop (Titans). It follows a family who is confronted by a group of their doppelgängers.

Check out the intense trailer!

I had to record a reaction video!

Get Out was full of unexpected twists, and the trailer for Us shows that the latest offering by Peele won’t be any different.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Peele explained of Us:

The main idea that went into writing this film is that we’re our own worst enemy, and that idea created this monster, the Tethered. I wanted to forge this new mythology that explored our duality and the duality of the characters.

The fan theories I have gone through are quite interesting. Some say the Tethered is related to how the POC leads have to hide a part of their beings to fit society. There is also a theory about the Tethered being the good guys while the normal-looking family in the trailer are the villains. Another intriguing theory is about Us being a sequel to Get Out.

I don’t know if any of the fan theories will be proven right when Us is released next year, but I can’t wait to watch this film!

I’m also quite happy to see Lupita Nyong’o getting such a project. Unfortunately, colorism is a serious issue in Hollywood. Nyong’o deserves a lot more work. Colorism is a topic of her upcoming children’s book, too.

Us will be released in the United States on March 15, 2019.

What do you think of Us? Do you have a theory about what is happening? Let us know.
