Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Manga Issue 24 Review – Kawaki

Boruto manga 24 review Kawaki

Though Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Manga Issue 24 titled ‘Kawaki’ was action-packed, it still managed to tell us a bit about a new young character as well as his ties to the Kara organization.

‘Kawaki’ picked up from where the previous issue left off, with Team 7 trying to know more about the mysterious young boy named Kawaki. We already know he too has a similar seal to Boruto’s and they will battle it out soon. So, it was good to receive a bit more information about the young ninja’s past. I wasn’t expecting him to be connected so closely to the Kara organization. His link made me interested to see why he was being transported in a blimp.

This month’s issue also told us a bit more about two Kara members named Jigen and Delta. I think Jigen is the leader of the group. He was the one who literally bought Kawaki when he was younger. Jigen also has a diamond-shaped mark (similar to Boruto’s) on his chin. I’m not sure what kind of powers he possesses. From what was shown in this chapter, my guess is he’s able to create copies of objects.

Judging by her involvement in the current manga issue, Delta seems to be the kind of woman who grows impatient very quickly and is annoyed by everything. The mangaka also focused a lot on her strange looking eyes (her pupils have vertical lines). So, I wouldn’t be surprised if she reveals some kind of powerful eye-related jutsu. She also seems to have considerable brute strength.

Other than telling us a bit about Jigen, Delta, and Kawaki’s past, the issue didn’t have much to offer. Mangaka Mikio Ikemoto continues to waste panels, focusing on unnecessary character expressions and body posing, which I think he considers cool.

Also, while I am a fan of action scenes, I do feel the manga needs to give Team 7 a break. Making them fight one opponent after another feels like an easy way to fill manga panels instead of focusing on developing an engrossing narrative. Ninja stuff is cool, but it needs to have an interesting story as the backbone.

Did you read Boruto this week? What did you think of ‘Kawaki’? Let us know.
