Fans have been waiting since 2009 to get a new entry in the enjoyable Marvel Ultimate Alliance game series. Now they can look forward to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order releasing sometime in 2019 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was announced at the annual Game Awards (which were held yesterday). A trailer was also shown for the upcoming game.

Check it out!

The trailer features the Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers, Spider-Man, and Wolverine from the X-Men. In the villain department, we have Thanos with The Infinity Stones, the Black Order, Ultron, and more. The game will be developed by Team Ninja, creators of the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises.

I still remember the first Marvel: Ultimate Alliance game which was released back in 2006. It allowed you to select from a range of heroes to create your own four-person team. My go-to characters were Storm, Invisible Woman, and Wolverine, with the fourth member of the team always changing depending on my mood. It was followed by a sequel in 2009.

Now, if only we can get a new game in the X-Men Legends series which served as the inspiration for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

While we will have to wait and see how MUA 3: The Black Order will be received in the gaming world, I’m glad to see the title hasn’t excluded the X-Men. However, I need Storm to be a part of this game or else I won’t be playing it.

There is some fan backlash about the upcoming title looking like something which should have been released on mobile phones. Some even think it should have been called Infinity War: The Game for the Nintendo Switch. Let’s see what happens when it hits the market next year.

I’ll keep you posted about a confirmed release date. There’s also The Avengers project being developed.

Are you looking forward to playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order?
