“Outbreak” Brings Old-School Feel of Zombie Horror – Game Review & Giveaway!

Outbreak Steam Game Zombies Shooter

The multiplayer zombie shooter Outbreak doesn’t deliver much in the graphics department but it does deliver on fun and survival-horror.

The moment you start playing Outbreak you will notice influences from the Resident Evil and Silent Hill game series. Even the opening title has a voice-over reminiscent of the R.E games. The R.E: Outbreak files were Capcom’s way to provide fans the ability to play online. I do feel that the game came too early for its time. If Capcom decides to reboot or re-release the titles they should perform better because of multiplayer online games being all the rage right now.

Coming back to Outbreak: there are four characters to play as, each with their own specific buffs and abilities. I played the game as Mason, a police officer who is highly resistant to damage and has a handgun. There is also Alendra (takes more damage and has a lock pick), Ethan (regenerates health faster and starts with a healing item), and Quies (larger inventory but can’t combine healing salves).

The basic objective of each campaign is to reach the evacuation zone. The game features tank controls and it is easier to play with Xbox One or Xbox 360 controllers. Overall, the game is tough due to your character having a single life. If you die, you’ll have to start all over again. The screen also starts to get blurry as your character nears death.

Completing campaigns unlocks additional story and behind-the-scenes content. The best part about Outbreak is the multiplayer mode and voice chat. You can also trade weapons and items with your friends to make sure that everyone has the proper equipment to survive.

Developed by Dead Drop Studios, Outbreak has a lot of replay value. Get a few friends together and see how long you can survive.

You can buy the game on Steam for the sale price of $10.49. The current deal will end on January 24th 2017 after which the title will revert to its original price of $14.99.

If you’re looking for a CGI masterpiece then Outbreak isn’t for you. However, if you’re a fan of old survival-shooters with tank controls then you should definitely give this game a try.
