Blurb:

Even the people closest to you can be monsters.

Maggie Martin is plagued by nightmares.
This hasn’t always been the case. She used to be your typical 17-year-old, worrying about boyfriends and college applications.
Until, one night, when she wakes up to the sound of screaming and witnesses the unthinkable. Now she’s scrambling to put the pieces of her life back together, which is not as easy as everyone would like her to believe.
Especially when she’s struggling just to BREATHE.

With the help of new friends, and a new love, will she be able to put her life back to rights? Or will the past come knocking once more?

Please introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m a twenty-something girl living somewhere on planet Earth. I’m a long-time reader, but a fairly new writer. My vices include eating mountains of chocolate and binge-watching TV shows. I’m a nocturnal creature of the worst kind–reading (and writing) is just so much better at night.

When did you realize that you had to write and then publish a book? How long have you been writing for?

I have been writing for most of my life; there’s nothing more thrilling than exploring new worlds. It was only during the last couple of years that I decided to get serious about writing, and I published my first book in January!

Are there other authors who have influenced you? Do you have any favorites?

That’s always a tough question to answer; there are so many. I will say, though, that one of the first authors I’ve read was Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She writes romantic comedy. I never laugh so much as when I’m reading one of her books. I tried to get the humor side of my book to be at least a tenth of hers.

Tell us about My Life As I Know It. What kind of readers will it appeal to?

My Life As I Knew It is a YA contemporary about a girl who sees her mother being murdered and the fallout from that. There are also some romance, and some funny moments. I guess it would appeal to anyone who has a fondness for YA.

Would you like to share any advice with writers who’ve just started?

Just keep writing. Don’t think about what comes after that. Finish your manuscript first, and research marketing options. Getting the word out about your book is very important, second only to actually writing your story.

Any thoughts to share regarding traditional and self-publishing?

Self-publishing definitely provides you with more control. It’s also great if you want to avoid getting rejected over and over again. Certainly, it’s a much slower start than traditional publishing, but everyone has to start somewhere.

As for traditional publishing, it would provide much greater exposure to readers. Not having to worry about promoting your book yourself would also be amazing, leaving you more free time to focus on writing.

Are they any upcoming works we should know about?

I just started a book set in college. Who knows where the characters will take me!
