‘Pokémon Sun’ and ‘Pokémon Moon’ Starters, New Region, Release Date Revealed!

Pokemon Starters Sun and Moon

The time has finally come, Pokémon fans! The new starter Pokémon for the upcoming Sun and Moon game, along with information about the region the game will take place in, has been revealed.

It is funny how even after decades the Pokémon franchise can still give rise to excitement in generations new and old. Whenever a new title is announced, the internet becomes full of fans predicting the kinds of Pokémon Nintendo will release. After months of waiting, the company has finally released a video that not only marks the debut of the new starters and the area the game will take place in, but also shows the Legendary Pokémon.

The first starter is called Rowlet. One look and it is clear the designers took inspiration from an owl. It has a dual nature due to belonging to both the Grass as well as Flying-type. It will already know the attack called Leafage if you happen to choose it as your partner.

The next starter is called Litten. Yes, it is inspired by a cat and is a Fire-type. Due to its hair being rich in flammable oil, this Pokémon is able to shoot flaming fireballs. It will help players with Ember if they choose it as their partner. Considering the dark color of its fur, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a dual nature by becoming a Dark-type during one of its evolutions.

The Water-type starter is called Popplio. It is based on a sea lion. It will help its partner with Water Gun. I’m not sure if it’ll be getting a dual nature.

Being a Water-Pokémon trainer, I’m excited to see what other new Water-type Pokémon the Sun and Moon game will offer especially with the setting being based on Hawaii. The new region is called Alola and it looks beautiful.

The video also showed the two legendary Pokémon. The Sun-Pokémon is a lion while the Moon-Pokémon looks like a bat. Check it out!

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be released for the Nintendo 3DS on November 18, 2016. You can visit the official website for more details.
