Will NBC Give Fans A Reverie Season 2? I Sure Hope So!

Reverie Season 1 Episode 1 Apertus review Reverie season 2

With only one more episode to go, the 10-episode first season of Reverie will air its finale on August 8, 2018. I am seeing a lot of fans wondering if NBC will greenlight Reverie season 2. Frankly, the same-day ratings haven’t been great. However, I do hope the network gives us another season of a show that boasts a very diverse cast and is fun to watch even though the premise borrows from other content.

In my Reverie season premiere review, I talked about the show’s potential. So much can be done through the dreams people can create to get away from the actual world. Mickey Fisher has been slowly peeling away the layers of his story and characters. Things aren’t what they seem and there is a level of intrigue which has led me to hope NBC gives us a Reverie season 2.

While our lead, Mara Kint, has been helping many people escape their reveries, one of the best things about this show is how Fisher wrote her character. She isn’t a perfect protagonist and her struggles feel real. Mara does what she can to aid others in facing their demons, but when it comes herself, she has a wall hiding all of the stuff she wants to run away from. Over the course of nine episodes, we have got to learn more about Mara and I can’t wait to see what the finale has in store for us.

As far as the ratings are concerned, Reverie debuted to 2.88 million live viewers and got a 0.6 in the 18-49 demo. Now, those aren’t great numbers. However, you also need to consider Reverie being a summer offering and being allowed to have lower ratings compared to the shows airing on NBC in the fall.

If Reverie could have held on to the 0.6 rating, I think it would have been safe. But the ratings for the first season averaging only 0.4 in the demo is what has made its future uncertain. The show has definitely been able to retain its audience, though the current numbers might not be enough for NBC to greenlight Reverie season 2.

So, as far as my opinion goes, with a 0.4 in the 18-49 demo (which is great for a network like Freeform), NBC is likely not to give us a second season of Reverie. Having said that, I will be watching the finale as well as keeping an eye on Fisher’s upcoming projects. He writes very interesting female leads and I will definitely watch the premiere of anything else he decides to work on.

Are you a fan of Reverie? Do you want a second season? Let us know.

  1. I love the show Reverie and will be sadly disappointed if NBC does not pick up a season 2. Hopefully if they don’t maybe another network will grab it and continue the season from where it left off at in season 1.

  2. I loved this show and I 100 percent want to see a Season Two. The show has many opportunities to explore so much.

  3. I binged the first season on HULU I didn’t even know about it on live tv. I hope it isn’t cancelled!! It’s a great story line with a diverse cast that has great chemistry!

  4. Reverie take me away
    From reality
NBC cancels too many GOOD shows after 1 season. Sometimes being away from reality or life is nice. Reverie made me feel like I was reading a relaxing book that I just didn’t want to put down and the hype from season 1 to season 2 has me waiting on edge to see what the writers come up with for season 2.

  5. Love the show Reverie, watch it on Hulu,& got excited every time I saw new episode. Please bring it back!!
