Netflix Announces Two-Hour Sense8 Christmas Special and Premiere Date for Season 2!

Netflix has released the synopsis for the Sense8 Christmas Special along with the premiere date of Season 2. I can’t wait to watch all the Sensates again! It has been too long!

A second season for the highly enjoyable show was announced back in August 2015. While we didn’t get details about the plot, we did find out about Capheus being recast during our wait. However, Netflix just released the synopsis for the upcoming Sense8 Christmas Special and the premiere of Season 2.

Sense8: A Christmas Special is going to be a two-hour long affair. It will premiere on the online streaming network on 23^rd December at 12:01 am PT. The second season will premiere on 5^th May, 2017, at 12:01 am PT. It will consist of 10 episodes. I know May 2017 feels too far, but the fandom will support each other and survive!

The journey continues as these eight singular hearts and minds weave in and out of each other’s lives, finding deeper connections, learning darker, more desperate secrets about one another and struggling to identify with more than just oneself.

Netflix also released a synopsis for Season 2:

Picking up where season one left off, Capheus (Toby Onwumere), Kala (Tina Desai), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Riley (Tuppence Middleton) , Sun (Donna Bae), Will (Brian J. Smith) and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) come together both physically and mentally, plunged into the middle of each other’s tragedies and triumphs. On the run from Whispers (Terrence Mann), and forced to question their very identity, it’s a matter of survival as the Sensates must find a way to live with, understand, and protect one another against all odds.

Sense8 did an amazing job with queer representation. I’m looking forward to seeing what the writers do in the second season. Don’t forget to read our Trans Representation in Sense8 Roundtable.
