Adult Website xHamster Offers Home to “Sense8” Season 3

Sense8 season 2 Netflix

Even though Netflix took back its decision to cancel Sense8 and is giving it a 2-hour special, adult website xHamster is more than willing to give Sense8 a home for a full third season.

Netflix deciding to cancel Sense8 after airing its second season devastated the fandom. The cancellation gave rise to the fandom being vocal and signing petitions to make Netflix renew the show. The network heard the outcry and even released a statement that the show will not be returning.

However, the fandom didn’t take no for an answer and with Lana and her team’s support got Netflix to give the show a two-hour long special to wrap up the story. With the philosophical themes and different character arcs, the fandom knew it was going to be impossible to address everything.

The possibility of the show getting a third season was strengthened when Lana Wachowski revealed that she’s already writing the script.

Even if Netflix decides not to renew Sense8 for a third season (regardless of Lana writing it), xHamster is more than willing to offer the show a home.

In an open letter, xHamster exec Alex Hawkins wrote that “We recently read that you’re working on a third season of Sense8 despite the fact that Netflix has no plans to renew the series.”

He talked about it being “unconventional, but we want to bring it back — on xHamster. We’re not talking about a parody, or something less than, but an actual revival of the series.”

He further added that “Ever since we read about the cancellation, we’ve been wondering if there was something we could do. While we’re happy that Netflix is picking up the series for a conclusion, before you wrap up the story, we wanted you to consider another option — letting xHamster produce the series.”

According to him, the website has ”a long history of fighting for the rights of sexual speech, and non-normative sexuality.” Also, “We have no such limitations, and also understand implicitly the interconnectedness of sexualities across boundaries. In short, we are a we.”

He also talked about people not thinking Netflix would be able to create its own content when it first started out. “We’d like to set up a meeting to see if there’s some fit for us in the future of Sense8. We know we’re an unlikely home. But five years ago, people laughed at the idea of Netflix producing original series. We think that our time, like yours, has come.

As of writing this article, the Wachowskis have yet to respond to the open letter.

Lana Wachowski, who is currently serving as Sense8‘s sole showrunner (her sister left the project), had praise for Netflix while talking about the 2-hour special. “The idea that this outpouring of love for the show would reach Netflix and convince them to reverse this decision is, let’s face it, maybe a little too schmaltzy for most narratives today.”

She also added that “This is also a testament to the cool radical, unpredictable company that Netflix is. They really do care about the artists they work with, the shows they make, and the subscribers – proving again and again that they’re not just a company run by an abacus.”

Are you looking forward to the 2-hour Sense8 special? Do you think Netflix will renew the show or xHamster has a good chance of offering it a new home? Let us know.
