Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 1×20 Review – The Boy With The Sharingan

Boruto anime review The Boy With The Sharingan

This week’s episode of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations was all about showing Salad starting her journey to meet Sasuke. ‘The Boy With The Sharingan’ also introduced the antagonist of the current arc.

Ninjas like Sasuke and Naruto are powerhouses. That’s why seeing the current arc’s main antagonist trying to attack one of them in ‘The Boy With The Sharingan’ felt hilarious. Unless both Naruto and Sasuke are given a handicap, there’s no one who can even think of defeating them.

Even Sakura is able to tank powerful bijuu bombs. So, knowing that the current villain wants to harm the Uchiha Clan comes across as a lost cause. While it does make for an interesting plot to bring Salad closer to her father, there’s no sense of an actual threat.

‘The Boy With The Sharingan’ opened with Sasuke being attacked by a little boy who happened to have the Sharingan. This surprised Sasuke because he wasn’t sure if the boy (named Shin) was a survivor of the Uchiha Clan massacre or was manufactured in a lab somewhere.

He immediately sent a message to Naruto who decided to personally meet him. This led to Salad following Naruto, along with Chocho, because she wanted to meet her father. The events that transpired in this week’s episode were simple. We don’t get to know anything about the main antagonist yet. So, I guess we’ll have to wait for the next episode.

What ‘The Boy With The Sharingan’ did do was awaken Salad’s Sharingan as she rushed to meet her father. Salad’s feelings towards her father do come across as understandable. She wants to know more about him and no one is giving her the answers she needs. Having a conversation with Naruto isn’t the same as actually meeting Sasuke.

Also, the whole ‘Is-Sakura-Salad’s-real-mother’ side-story is just going to get weirder from here on out, so you need to be ready. It will be resolved in the end but the ride to the conclusion will be a bumpy one. I remember how Masashi Kishimoto was referred to as being a massive troll when the mini-manga story came out.
