This review is a bit late. My allergies suck the energy out of me, but thankfully the Princess Leia series does not suck at all. This issue is even better than the first, which was amazing. There’s more action in this one, and we are also shown a glimpse of Leia’s life from when she was a child and a young person. Leia never wanted to be just a princess, she wanted to fight and be in on the action.

Princess Leia and her companions, Evaan and R2D2, begin their mission to find the orphans of the former planet Alderaan. Their first stop is the planet Naboo. Fans of Han and Leia will like the fake name she gives when they land. There is a price on Leia’s head which makes this mission especially dangerous, but she sees it as her personal responsibility to help preserve what is left of the people of Alderaan and their culture. We are very quickly shown her mission is not without its dangers. Leia’s cover does get blown as there are way too many people who recognize her, but she and her companions are able to fight their enemies off. In the end, they rescue some people and acquire a larger ship to help Leia with her mission.

I’m still not over the art with this book. Terry Dodson is an amazing artist, in a style I just love. I think I’d love to see any comic drawn in his style. It’s visually pleasing, and with the great writing by Mark Waid, it’s an epic combination. Once again, I’m going to complain about this only being a five issue series. It really has the potential to be a long term comic. I hope this is something that Marvel considers in the future.
