Missed THE ROOM In Theaters? You’ve Got One More Shot on Friday

Tommy Wiseau’s exquisitely bad The Room, which achieved cult status thanks in part to celebrities talking about how unbelievably terrible it was, has gotten a resurgence in popularity recently. Fans clamoured to see The Room in theaters and were given their wish – a one-night only screening at theaters across the country. If you missed it the first time, you’ve got one more chance.

The sudden uptick in popularity of the film lovingly called “the Citizen Kane of bad movies”
is no doubt due to The Disaster Artist, a biopic about the making of the film starring James Franco as Wiseau, which has received critical acclaim and won several accolades – including a Golden Globe for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Wiseau was at the Golden Globes and made an appearance onstage when Franco accepted the award; Franco infamously “soccer mom’d” him from speaking.

On January 10th, 500 theaters across the country screened The Room, and fans turned out in droves to see this spectacle on the big screen. Due to the night’s success and overwhelming demand, an encore event has been scheduled for this Friday, January 19th, through Fathom Events. Check out the Fathom Events website for a theater near you; tickets are available through the Fathom Events website or in person at participating theaters.

If you haven’t seen The Room, you are missing out. A treasure trove of bad acting, subplots that don’t go anywhere, and memorable lines (“You’re tearing me apart, Lisa!”), The Room stars Wiseau as Tommy, a banker whose life seems to be perfect until his fiancee, Lisa, gets bored and seduces his best friend Mark. Mark is played by Wiseau’s real-life best friend, Greg Sestero, author of the award-winning memoir on which The Disaster Artist is based.
