The year 2016 is going to be very busy for the X-Men and their fans. Not only are there two X-Men films releasing (with one being Deadpool), the three major X-Men comic book titles will be facing the “Apocalypse Wars”.

According to Marvel, the event will kick start in March 2016 in the pages of Extraordinary X-Men #8. For those of you who don’t know, Extraordinary X-Men is a major title of the franchise, so it makes sense the event will debut from there. After Secret Wars, mutant kind is hated, and Storm has to lead a team to ensure the survival of their race. Apocalypse Wars will take Storm’s team into the near future where they come face-to-face with their greatest adversary: Apocalypse.

The second book in the event is Uncanny X-Men #6. It will be released in April and focus on Magneto and his team dealing with Archangel. The event’s third book is All-New X-Men #9, which also stars a young Apocalypse named Evan. Ever since Evan was introduced, his major arc has revolved around wanting to change his fate and not becoming the brutal Apocalypse that the X-Men have faced numerous times. Evan being tested during the Apocalypse Wars is something to look forward to.

Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse will be released during the upcoming comic book event on 27th May, 2016. So, what does this event mean regarding the relationship between Fox and Disney? Many fans have speculated that Marvel is slowly making the X-Men franchise disappear and is replacing it with the Inhumans. This theory is fueled by the fact that here hasn’t been a new X-Men animated series since 2009, while Marvel’s other properties have been getting new TV shows. The mutants are also absent from recent merchandise and don’t appear in major Marvel games such as Future Fight.

Is the upcoming comic book event an indication of Fox and Disney joining hands? Was there never a feud to begin with, because the two studios are already partners in bringing the X-Men to the small screen? Or is it just Disney’s way of making a quick buck for its X-Men comic book titles because of the hype surrounding Apocalypse? Let us know!
