Agents of SHIELD at SDCC: Beginning to Say Goodbye
It is the beginning of the end for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, but before they said goodbye, they made one more appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. The cast and producers are definitely emotional about the end, but are grateful to the fans, and so proud of the little show that could. And one thing is for sure: we will miss this amazing cast.
As season six has come to a close, we recently learned that season 7 would be the last for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Although the show has a cult following and fits somewhere within the Marvel universe, rumors of the show ending have been going on for years, but this time, it’s real. I was lucky enough to participate in the press room at SDCC and the cast and producers talked about what makes the show so great and how the fans played an integral role in keeping the show on the air.
Another theme that everyone spoke to during the press room is the relief of knowing that the end is near. So often in television, a show will get canceled out of nowhere and leave fans, as well as those creating the show, out on a limb. Fortunately, we have an entire season left, and the show can end on its own terms. It is incredibly powerful for a television show to be able to end the way that it wants, and allows for everyone involved to have closure. Although everyone is extremely emotional about it, it is nice to have some sort of control before everything ends.
Below is a link to our roundtable interviews from the SDCC 2019 press room.
As you can see, this is a show whose cast has incredible chemistry and energy, and although they couldn’t really talk about where the show is headed, it is clear that everyone involved in this has a tremendous amount of pride in this project. They also talked a lot about the diversity of the show, and how fans helped to foster that diversity.
We will miss Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, but we still have an entire season left to get our emotions in check. Are you excited for the final season? Let us know in the comments!
