In celebration of the queer comedy movie’s 15 Year Anniversary, Breaking Glass Pictures will be releasing the Director’s Cut of Another Gay Movie on VOD come April 27 and on DVD come May 4, 2021. The upcoming home release will include never-before-seen footage.

According to the press release we got, when writer/director/producer Todd Stephens (Swan Song, Edge of Seventeen) watched Another Gay Movie for the first time in 10 years, he decided to create a 15-year anniversary Director’s Cut to help refresh this gay cult classic in a manner that doesn’t disappoint fans.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to unleash ANOTHER GAY MOVIE back on the world,” said Todd Stephens. “It now includes a brilliantly twisted scene with my idol, Mink Stole, that I never should have cut in the first place.”

Here’s the trailer!

The description reads:

Andy Wilson (Michael Carbonaro) is your typical All-American seventeen-year-old gay virgin. Like everyone else, he’s dying to have sex. Totally out of the closet and mad crazy horny, this naive high school senior is caught in that awkward vortex between child and adult. Much to the dismay of his mom, Mrs. Wilson (Lypsinka) – who wonders why all her carrots and cucumbers keep disappearing – Andy spends much of his private time practising for the big moment when he’ll finally take the plunge. Andy is not alone. He attends high school with his three best friends, all of them totally out-loud-and-proud: Jarod (Jonathan Chase) is a buff varsity-jock stud; Griff (Mitch Morris) is the valedictorian, sinewy sexy, and a closet romantic; and Nico (Jonah Blechman) is the pierced alternative-kid gay-cinema expert. The guys all have one thing in common – they’re all “booty” virgins. What follows is a raunchy ride on the bumpy road to virginity loss. In the dirtiest, funniest, most scandalous gay-teen-sex-comedy-parody ever, four young gay friends make a pact to lose their virginity by the end of the summer. The boys soon face giant sex toys, naked celebrities, masochistic teachers, and an uncomfortable romance with a quiche. With a dozen jokes a minute and a who’s who of gay celebrities (including Graham Norton, Scott Thompson, Ant, Mink Stole, and Richard Hatch) as you’ve NEVER seen them before, Another Gay Movie is a candy-colored romp where getting laid is all that matters!

Todd is brilliant with drama and comedy – as there is always a mix in any of his films,” shared Jonah Blechman, who recently collaborated again with Stephens on the Magnolia Pictures release, Swan Song, with Udo Kier, Jennifer Coolidge, Linda Evans and Michael Urie. “In one of my most outrageous performances, the Another Gay Movie franchise was what I like to call my Queer protest films. I’m forever proud of the boundaries we all broke, that even today, have yet to be topped in the queer genre!”

You know, at live shows, people still bring me Another Gay Movie DVD’S to sign, all I do is beam. It’s like they are ‘in the know,” said Michael Carbonaro. “After 15 years, I still get jazzed thinking about it. I feel incredibly lucky and proud to have gotten to be a part of this film that Todd dared to write and we all dared to make. It grabbed our audiences… right where they needed to be grabbed. It was nothing short of legendary.”

Another Gay Movie initially released back in 2006. It served as a queer parody of the successful American Pie movie series. A sequel was released in 2008. Carbonaro and a few other original cast members didn’t return for the sequel and certain roles were recast. I still remember how the sequel explained the absence of a handful of actors by alluding to what their agents might have said about not doing another queer movie because people might think they were actually gay.

With the upcoming Another Gay Movie: Director’s Cut, I’m interested in seeing how the newer generation reacts to such a comedy film.

Feel free to share your thoughts with us.
