Katee Sackhoff, Selma Blair, and Tyler Hoechlin Are Looking Good in “Another Life” Trailer

Another Life Trailer

It’s been too long since I’ve watched good sci-fi (that Expanse hiatus seems never-ending, doesn’t it?), so I was very excited to watch the Another Life trailer, which dropped today from Netflix.

The Another Life trailer shows us our first glimpse of the intrepid crew of the Salvare. Katee Sackhoff stars as Niko Breckinridge, an astronaut who is leading a mission responsible for uncovering the origins of a mysterious alien artifact that has landed on Earth. But as she and her young crew investigate, the mission goes sideways; they face unimaginable dangers and realize that this may very well be a one-way mission. Meanwhile on Earth, Niko’s husband, Erik (Justin Chatwin), tries to make contact with the artifact.

The trailer gives us just a taste of what we can expect when the show premieres on Netflix on July 25, and I’m already on the edge of my seat. With an ominous voice over (“I’m scared. And I am not just scared to go back into space. I am scared that this mission is gonna fail.”), quick cuts, and a pulsing beat, your heart will start pumping as you’re made aware that whatever was supposed to happen on this mission, something has gone seriously wrong.

I’m excited about this series for more than just the fact that it looks like some seriously good sci-fi. You may have noticed that the trailer contains several shots of a specific actor that I am a huge fan of. (Tyler Hoechlin. It’s Tyler Hoechlin.) Though he doesn’t seem to be credited on the official Netflix page (for shame), it seems like Hoechlin will have a fairly important role. He stars as Ian Yerxa, the former commander of the mission who was replaced by Niko.

Selma Blair is also looking fabulous as Harper Glass, a journalist set on breaking one of the biggest stories in human history.

The series also stars Samuel Anderson, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, A.J. Rivera, Alexander Eling, Blu Hunt, Alex Ozerov, Jake Abel, JayR Tinaco, Jessica Camacho, Barbara Williams, and Lina Renna.

The ten-episode first season of Another Life premieres July 25 on Netflix.
