Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Premiere Dives Into Ash’s Backstory!

Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Starz

Ash vs Evil Dead dived further into Ashley William’s background, giving the character some much-needed layers.

This post contains minor spoilers regarding Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2. You have been warned!

Starz’s comedy-horror TV show Ash vs Evil Dead returned for a second season this month. While horror fans likely knew about Ash from the popular The Evil Dead film franchise, there was never much information given about his background. We knew that he had a sister and a group of friends who died during the events of the first film; other than that, Ash didn’t seem to be a very deep character.

But that’s why I enjoy watching this show – it does a good job of giving Ash some layers. He’s someone who is suffering from survivor’s guilt…but he isn’t going to talk about it. Even though he has a lot of emotional problems, he comes up with lies to deal with them.

However, in the season 2 premiere we got to visit the house that our unfortunate hero grew up in. That said, it wasn’t a very fond reunion for Ashley – the residents of Elks Groove not only think he’s crazy, they believe he’s also responsible for all the murders that occurred in the cabin years ago.

We also got to meet Ashley’s father, who is played by Lee Majors. While viewers didn’t get to know a lot about his father I do think we’ll see more of him soon enough. Ashley’s mother passed away but considering the dead are known to come back to life in this TV show we might get to see her as well. Fingers crossed!

Ash vs Evil Dead stars Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo. The show’s second season, which will consist of 10 episodes, had an early online premiere of September 27th and airs live on Starz today.
