Baby Yoda Merchandise Watch: Update #9: Sideshow Life Size Doll

Sideshow Collectibles has released pictures and a pre-order link for their incredibly life-like Baby Yoda doll.  The collectible will set you back $350.

The Sideshow Collectibles baby Yoda (officially known as ‘The Child’) figure is by far the most realistic one released yet.  The official Disney plush is cute, but it’s undeniably a plushie.  And the Build-A-Bear Baby Yoda is adorable, but it’s a Build-A-Bear creation, so it’s not going for realism.  This doll looks like it was plucked directly off the set of The Mandalorian and it’s absolutely mind blowing.

Another selling point of the figure is that it’s “life-size,” and they even included an apple for scale in one of the promo images to really drive that point home.

Not sold on the idea yet?  Well, the baby comes with the shifter nob from the Razor Crest.  It’s insanely adorable.

The design is absolutely jaw dropping. I can’t believe how detailed and absolutely gorgeous it is.  I can understand why this one is coming out a bit later than some of the other Baby Yoda merch because whoever designed it was incredibly meticulous getting the details right.

Yes, the toy is quite pricey.  The pre-order page has it listed for $350.  But really, can you blame them?  This is a high quality collectors item and not a toy like so much of the other merch, so I totally get that price tag.  It’s a bit out of my price range, but I’m not a serious collector of this type of merch, so I’ll stick with the Baby Yoda Pops! myself.

Also, as a side note, the Sideshow description of The Child figure is one of my favorite product descriptions yet.  It’s filled with humor and fandom in jokes.  Honestly, props to whoever wrote this adorable description because they are clearly part of our fandom.

The estimated release date for the figure is sometime between August and October of 2020, which again is quite a bit later than the other merch, but just look at it, man.  It’s insanely detailed.  Sideshow Collectibles was not aiming to be first here.  They were aiming for quality.  And on that front, they’ve very much succeeded.
