Back in Time: Diamond Select Toys New “Back to the Future” Minimates

Diamond Select Toys

In the wake of the 30th Anniversary of Back of the Future, Diamond Select Toys has added to its Minimates line for the iconic 80’s time travel movie trilogy, with more characters and vehicles versions.

This past fall, we also zoomed by October 21, 2015, the date Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled to in Back to the Future II. I’d still like to know why I don’t have a hoverboard yet (no, that device with the wheels doesn’t count). So if you’re feeling nostalgic, or still waiting for your hoverboard, check out what Diamond Select Toys has for Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and company, including the Delorean.

Recently released in stores, you can pick up the Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Minimates 1985 Boxed set, which contains four figures, including a character not done before.

It’s an all-new edition of our famous Minimates Time Machine from Back to the Future III! This never-before-released edition features the Wild West detailing of the third film in the trilogy, with hood-mounted circuitry, “rail-read” train wheels and a generous coating of dust! Coming this spring, Diamond has also announced a Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Minimates 1955 Box Set, which includes characters or character versions that haven’t been available as Minimates before.

Cowboy Marty comes with a tombstone and hatless hair, Casual Doc Brown comes with his dog Copernicus and the Brain Wave Analyzer, Young George McFly comes with binoculars, and the first-ever Marvin Berry figure comes with a guitar and non-injured hand! Also arriving this spring, more Doc Brown, with a Hover Time Machine Mini-Vehicle, as seen in the article header. Okay, it’s not a hoverboard, but it’s still pretty cool.

Where you’re going, you don’t need roads! Why? Because this mini-vehicle of the Time Machine from Back to the Future Part II is in hover mode, that’s why! With its tires locked in hover position, this 4-inch Time Machine glides across the floor on a second set of hidden wheels, and its gull-wing doors open to seat two Minimates mini-figures. It even comes with a new mini-figure of Future Doc Brown in his wraparound sunglasses! Doc features 14 points of articulation and has fully interchangeable parts. Packaged in a full-color blister card. (Item #FEB162472, SRP: 19.99)

A Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Minimates 1885 Box Set and a Back to the Future 30th Anniversary 2015 Minimates Box Set are also already in stores.

The Back to the Future trilogy continues to prove itself, well, timeless, and the possibilities for tie-ins that appeal to fans and collectors seem to be ongoing. Someday there will probably even be a Marty McFly hoverboard. Or maybe holographic Minimates. Anything in particular you’re hoping to see (or want to make a prediction for the future?)
