The upcoming DC Animated Movie, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, is ready to bring a reimagined version of the Caped Crusader inspired by Lovecraftian supernatural forces. Fans can look forward to enjoying the movie on Digital, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, and Blu-ray come March 28, 2023.

Bruce Wayne is known to have a very rational mind and he’s basically undefeated when it comes to his comic book lore. However, I do have fun when he’s put into stories dealing with supernatural stuff that can’t be explained away with science. Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham seems ready to give me just that.

The upcoming movie, set in an all-new 1920s-based DC Elseworlds reality, will feature reimagined versions of Bruce’s enemies and allies, including Green Arrow, Ra’s al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Cros, Two-Face, James Gordon, and more. I think I also saw Poison Ivy in the trailer. Etrigan is in there, too.

David Giuntoli will reprise his role after voicing Bruce in Batman: Soul of the Dragon. Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Uncharted) will make her DC animated debut as Kai Li Cain, Batman’s closest ally.

The cast also includes Christopher Gorham as Oliver Queen, Patrick Fabian as Harvey Dent, John DiMaggio as James Gordon, and David Dastmalchian as Grendon. Gideon Adlon is the Oracle, Karan Brar is Sanjay “Jay” Tawde, Jeffrey Combs is Kirk Langstrom, Darin De Paul is Thomas Wayne, Brian George is Alfred, Jason Marsden will be voicing both Dick Grayson & Young Bruce Wayne, Navid Negahban is Ra’s al Ghul, Emily O’Brien will play Talia al Ghul & Martha Wayne, Tim Russ is Lucius Fox, William Salyers will voice Cobbelpot & Professor Manfurd, and Matthew Waterson will voice Jason Blood/Etrigan.

The official synopsis reads:

Inspired by the comic book series by Mike Mignola, Richard Pace and Troy Nixey, Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham is a 1920s-based tale that finds explorer Bruce Wayne accidentally unleashing an ancient evil, expediting his return to Gotham City after a two-decade hiatus. The logic/science-driven Batman must battle Lovecraftian supernatural forces threatening the sheer existence of Gotham.

Here’s the action-packed trailer!

Sam Liu (The Death and Return of Superman) fills the dual role of producer and co-director of Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham, working closely with co-director Christopher Berkeley (Young Justice) on a script by Jase Ricci (Teen Titans Go! and DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse). Producers are Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) and Kimberly S. Moreau (Legion of Super-Heroes). Michael Uslan and Sam Register are Executive Producers.

The Special Features Include:

  • Batman: Shadows of Gotham (New Featurette) – An examination of themes of existential dread in a world drenched in gothic overtones that combine to create one of Batman’s most unique adventures.
