In news that made Bleach fans around the world go crazy, it looks like the anime series is coming back to adapt the final arc from the manga. I can’t wait! I know it wasn’t the best, but I loved watching the Bleach anime. Of course, I was devastated when the anime ended without animating all of the manga chapters.

The Bleach anime concluded back in 2012 with a total of 366 episodes. The manga series ended in 2016. So, you can see there was still a whole lot of content the anime wasn’t able to cover. But now, after all these years, the anime is coming back next year to present the ‘Thousand-Year Blood War’ arc (which is the final arc in the manga).

The current news was revealed as part of the decision by TPTB to commemorate the original manga’s 20th anniversary in 2021.

A whole lot of epicness occurred during the ‘Thousand-Year Blood War’ arc and I can’t wait for it all to grace the small screen. Just imagine how great all those fight-sequences will look! I’m already excited.

The arc is also known as the Quincy Blood War. It tells the story of the war between the Gotei 13 and the Wandenreich. Due to being the final arc, it featured a lot of revelations, especially about Ichigo’s parentage and abilities.

We also got to learn more about the Bankai of various characters. The revelation surrounding Toshiro Hitsugaya’s Bankai, in chapter 671, really took fans by surprise.

A lot of fans felt many storylines were rushed in the manga. So, I hope the anime tries to flesh out some of the moments.

The aftermath of the arc gave us a time skip and introduced us to Ichigo and Orihime’s son as well as Rukia and Renji’s daughter. With how Boruto continues to be a success, do you think the Bleach anime could continue with the next generation? Only time will tell.

As for the franchise itself, one of the reasons I ended up being a fan deals with how mangaka Tite Kubo handled the fictional women. In my opinion, they had more to do in the narrative compared to Naruto, even if Bleach made most of the women show a lot of skin.

Bleach allowed its cast of characters (including women) to have some enjoyable fight sequences instead of always focusing on the lead male character (or other men) to take down the bad guys (something that Naruto did a lot of). Even the current narrative in the Boruto manga looks ready to make the main story be about Boruto and Kawaki while pushing Salad away. Sigh!

Coming back to the upcoming Bleach anime, I’m looking forward to seeing Orihime get the attention she deserves during her and Ichigo’s fight with the final villain Yhwach. While I still think her potential was wasted in the franchise (what is up with certain male mangakas creating OP fictional women and not letting them do much?), she came through when facing Yhwach and did what she could to support Ichigo. Considering her incredibly passive nature, I was happy with what she did.

Just look at Orihime block Yhwach’s attack (in the image above) to protect Ichigo. Not even God-like beings can break her shield. Combine her shield with her ability to turn back time as well as kill opponents with a single attack, she’s extremely dangerous. Alas, Kubo decided to not give her the personality of someone who is a fighter. He had to nerf her somehow.

Anyway, are you a Bleach fan? Let us know.
