Teen Wolf 6×8 Review: Blitzkrieg

Teen Wolf Season 6 Blitzkrieg

This week’s episode of Teen Wolf, ‘Blitzkrieg’, gave us a flashback featuring a Nazi werewolf. It also provided closure to the Sheriff and Claudia relationship.

I was dreading the Nazi flashback in ‘Blitzkrieg’ since its announcement. Teen Wolf didn’t handle Marie-Jeanne well, so I had valid reasons. However, the good thing was that the flashback didn’t last for an entire episode. We got to know that Mr. Douglas is a Löwenmensch (Lonely munchkin?), a wolf and lion hybrid. I don’t even want to know how that happened to him.

Anyway, he wanted to control the Ghost Riders during World War II. Since he was weak, he went to the Dread Doctors for help. I’m not invested in Lonely munchkin so the whole thing felt like a drag. Again, Teen Wolf has introduced a villain who wants to be evil just for the sake of it. There is no characterization whatsoever.

The best parts of ‘Blitzkrieg’ were the scenes involving Sheriff Stilinski. After discovering Stiles’ room, he proceeded to use his son’s red thread and pins to remember him. Stiles’ crime board still had a picture of Derek!

As numerous fans had speculated, Claudia was created by Sheriff Stilinski. How and why was he able to create her? We got no explanation. The major takeaway from the whole scene was how remembering Stiles could open rifts to the Ghost Rider’s train station. Again, how remembering Stiles can open a rift but remembering someone else doesn’t have the same effect, we got no explanation.

The fact that Teen Wolf even decided to do half a season around Stiles’ disappearance made no sense to me. And it shows in the execution. Everything feels like a mess without him, and that’s something that shouldn’t happen to a show when the actual main character is someone else. Add in Dylan O’Brien’s absence and the whole thing is sloppy even for Teen Wolf standards.

‘Blitzkrieg’ also revealed Stiles’ true name: Mieczyslaw. Does the fandom even care? I do think that a lot of them don’t. The perfect opportunity to reveal Stiles’ true name was back in season 3 when he was possessed by a fox spirit known for being mischievous. You took too long, Jeff Davis. You took too long.

Some thoughts and questions:

  • Lydia mentioned Ghost Riders showing reverence. Why do they respect her? What is a Banshee? Sigh!
  • Sheriff mentioned staying with Claudia when she died. This can’t be right because I do remember him mention, years ago, being with a woman (presumably a banshee) who was about to die. You know what the Ghost Riders actually took from Beacon Hills? All traces of canon and timeline!
  • What happened to Theo when Liam ran away because of the Ghost Riders attacking the police station?
  • Stiles’ sarcasm must be going through the roof seeing familiar faces being banished to the train station.

What did you think of ‘Blitzkrieg’? Let us know!

  1. Sadly agreed…Jeff Davis has had too much pride going on his own road without listening to the criticism about Teen Wolf.
Which is a pity since it had so much potential initially, & now it’s really time to say goodbye to it (when even fanfics sound better than the real show -_-)

    1. Yup, agreed. I do think that Jeff Davis’ pride and some decisions that TPTB made were the downfall of the show. It’s not every year we get a show that had so much potential, a fandom that was willing and passionate about it, but due to the writers and co. it all went to waste…sigh
