“Boomerang” Has Been Renewed for a Second Season by BET!

Boomerang BET review

BET has decided to renew Boomerang for a second season. I’m very happy to see this series continue because it features interesting storylines, queer representation, and a highly likable cast.

I don’t know what viewership and demo numbers BET considers a success. That is why I was worried about Boomerang. The show’s live viewing numbers aren’t stellar, but then again, I was comparing them to what other networks such as NBC, ABC, etc., look for. Anyway, turns out the show did well enough for BET to have it return for a sophomore outing.

According to THR, Boomerang is “cable’s No. 1 new scripted comedy among African Americans in the key adults 18-49 demo and total viewers.”

That is just wow and so well-deserved!

Making Boomerang has been one of the highlights of my career and the positive feedback we’ve gotten from fans and critics has been so validating. I’m beyond excited to dive even deeper into these characters’ lives in season two,” said Waithe.

The first season of Boomerang will consist of only 10 episodes. Eight of them have been aired by the network. The ninth episode, titled “Us Too”, will air tonight on BET.

The series has continued to talk about a number of issues including racism, sexism, queer representation, and more. From the promotional material I have watched, tonight’s episode will tackle the Me Too conversation and what happens when people (you look up to) are accused.

Waithe and her writing team have an impressive way of sharing their point without making the conversation feel forced in the overall narrative. Let’s see what they offer when the show returns for a second outing. I can’t wait!

Do make sure to read my reviews.

The show has been co-produced by Waithe and Halle Berry.
