‘Boyhood’ Filler Arc Begins in Naruto Shippuden Anime!
The Naruto Shippuden anime aired its Great Ninja War finale last week. So, where does the series go next? Cue the ‘Boyhood’ filler arc!
Naturo Shippuden aired its finale on October 13th, 2016. In a sense, all canon material is now over. However, an animated version of the Naruto manga epilogue still needs to air. In order to keep the successful anime series running, Naruto Shippuden has begun airing the ‘Boyhood’ filler arc.
The ‘Boyhood’ filler arc takes viewers back to beginning when familiar characters were little kids. The arc started off with ‘Naruto – Hinata’ this week. It will continue with ‘Sasuke – Sakura’ on October 27th, 2016. ‘Gaara – Shikamaru’ will air on 3rd November, 2016. The fourth episode in the arc will air on 10th November, 2016, and will be titled ‘Jirayia – Kakashi’. The ‘Boyhood filler’ arc also got new opening and closing title sequences.
Even though the Naruto manga ended in 2014, there is still a lot of content that can be animated. The anime versions of one Shinden and two Hiden novels will start airing this winter, possibly right after the end of the ‘Boyhood’ arc.
The anime versions of the epilogue Hiden novels include Shikamaru Hiden and Konoha Hiden. The Sasuke Shinden novel is also getting animated with Itachi Shinden already having aired. While this is exciting news, the novel I want an anime version of is Sakura Hiden.
Many Naruto fans consider Sakura to be a weak character. However, she proved her worth over the course of the franchise. The Sakura Hiden epilogue novel allowed readers to understand Sakura better and show how hardworking and capable a ninja she is. She didn’t come from a destined bloodline. But the pink-haired ninja didn’t let anything keep her down. She worked hard to become the best medical ninja, and one of the strongest in the Naruto-verse. Fingers crossed we get news about the anime version of Sakura Hiden soon!
