Capcom Announces Musical Biohazard Coming This Year!

Reon in Musical Biohazard

While the fate of a seventh installment in the Resident Evil game series is still uncertain, it hasn’t stopped Capcom’s zombie-killing franchise from exploring new avenues and thus, Musical Biohazard.

Capcom has announced a stage musical adaptation for the Resident Evil or Biohazard franchise which will be titled Musical Biohazard: Voice of Gaia. To a lot of fans, a stage musical adaptation of the zombie-killing franchise might not make sense. However, if you ask me, I’m very excited about this news. It’ll be fun to see familiar characters from the franchise bursting into song and dance as they try to survive a zombie apocalypse. Perhaps we will get to see zombies and other mutated beings sing songs as well. It all sounds ridiculously awesome!

According to Anime News Network, actress Reon Yuzuki has been cast as the lead in the stage musical. She is famous for playing mostly male characters in the all-female musical theatre troupe, Takarazuka Revue. There aren’t any details regarding her character yet, but she does look impressive in the promotional image. Maybe she will play a male character in the stage musical as well?

Musical Biohazard: Voice of Gaia will have elements of action and ballet in it. G2 will be directing as well as writing the upcoming musical. Voice of Gaia is set to run from September 30 to the 12th of October at Tokyo’s Akasaka ACT Theatre. From there it will move on to Osaka’s Umeda Arts Theatre and run from the 11th to 16th of November, 2016.

This is not the first time the Resident Evil franchise has received a stage adaptation. Last year saw the debut of Biohazard: The Stage which tied into the story of the main game series. There was also an unrelated musical comedy in 2000 titled Bioroid: Year Zero which focused on the zombie’s point of view.
