Marvel Studios Releases Second Captain Marvel Trailer! Fast-Tracks Shang-Chi Film!
While we are still unsure about the fate of all the MCU Heroes after the Thanos Snap, fans have a new (second) Captain Marvel trailer to enjoy. Also, a Shang-Chi film, becoming the MCU’s first Asian-led movie, is in development. Now, where’s the trailer for Avengers 4?
I have already written about how I wasn’t too impressed by the first Captain Marvel trailer. There is just something about Brie Larson as Carol Danvers I’m unable to get behind. Also, the only scenes from the new trailer I enjoyed featured her wearing the mask. Which, I guess, is my way of saying the character looks amazing to me while doing stuff in CG, but when Larson comes on the screen (sans mask), I just don’t feel any screen presence from her.
Again, it is a personal thing. You are free to stan Larson as Captain Marvel to your heart’s content.
The second trailer for Captain Marvel has done an awesome job of showing how powerful she is. The Marvel Comics feature numerous women as some of the most powerful beings in the fictional universe. And it is good to see that being translated on the big screen, too. With Feige now having the X-Men and the Fantastic Four characters to play with, the MCU is (hopefully) going to be full of powerful women and I’m already excited! The Invisible Woman, Storm, the freaking Dark Phoenix! There are so many!
Talking about diversifying the MCU roster, according to Deadline, Marvel Studios have a Shang-Chi feature film in development. To ensure the project is as successful as it can be, Chinese-American writer Dave Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984) will pen the script. The studio is also looking to hire an Asian or Asian-American director. No release date has been revealed, but it will be safe to assume we will get one after Feige shares his plans about how the MCU moves forward once the events of Avengers 4 unfold.
Captain Marvel will be released in the U.S. on March 8, 2019.
