Chucky season 2 episode 4, titled ‘Death on Denial’, has got to be one of the campiest installments yet. We got a lot of meta-storytelling along with some huge reveals.

With Glen and Glenda arriving at Tiffany’s house at the end of episode 2, ‘Death on Denial’ picked up the story from there. As a fan of the Child’s Play franchise, I have been looking forward to seeing the aged-up versions of Glen and Glenda. And I have to say that the creative team didn’t disappoint. Both characters identified as nonbinary and shared a very close bond. I liked how they had a curious streak about them along with a bit of darkness that came from their parents.

One of the things that really intrigued me was how both Glen and Glenda talked about how they felt incomplete, as if there was a hole in their chests. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Glen/Glenda was introduced as a single character in the Seed of Chucky, with the soul separating as the story progressed. I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of this particular season Glen and Glenda found a way to merge their souls. If not that, then finding a way to merge their souls to feel whole again could also serve as a plot point for a third season. Let’s see.

‘Death on Denial’ (a play on Death on the Nile) was presented as a special episode airing during Chucky’s show. I don’t know how to properly explain it all, but then again, it wouldn’t be the first time the series broke the fourth wall. I liked how Jeniffer Tilly’s friends and younger sister coming over to her house for a surprise party and an intervention turned into a mystery game to find who killed the butler. That was a nice save from Tiffany.

Gina Gershon, Joe Pantoliano, Sutton Stracke, and Meg Tilly did a terrific job of playing themselves and revealing what kind of relationship each shared with Jeniffer Tilly (in such a fictional setting). With Gershon and Pantoliano being part of the episode, fans basically got a Bound reunion.

One of the biggest reveals involved Glen and Glenda finding Nica (three months before the surprise party) and agreeing to help her escape. I liked seeing Glen and Glenda taking the time to formulate an effective plan. They couldn’t just take Nica away the moment they found her. They had to find a place where she could be safe because the police was looking for her.

Glenda being the one to interact with Chucky after meeting Nica made for a surprise twist. Even though Glenda was all about helping Nica, they were also into helping Chucky get his revenge against Tiffany. The entire sequence featuring Glenda knocking out Glen and then taking Chucky (possessing Nica’s body) to Tiffany to kill her was quite intense. I’m looking forward to seeing how the dynamic between Glen and Glenda will change after Glenda ran away with Nica/Chucky and Glen decided to stay back to help Tiffany.

As for the other big reveal (a lot happened in this episode!), we got to see that the driver ready to take Nica and Glenda away was actually… Kyle!!!

Yes, as suspected, Kyle was able to survive the season one finale and I couldn’t be happier. With Kyle coming back, I think it’s safe to say that Andy’s alive, too. One of the things I was disappointed about in the previous season was how Andy and Kyle didn’t work really together with Lexi, Devon, and Jake to fight Chucky. Here’s to hoping we get to see a proper team-up between all the leads this time around.

Coming back to Glen and Glenda, ‘Death on Denial’ also had a scene where the butler shared his bigoted thoughts about the teens being nonbinary. While the butler didn’t change his views, seeing people who loved Glen and Glenda standing with them made for a nice moment.

Tiffany’s not going to sit still and allow Nica/Chucky to do what they want. I’m interested in seeing what kind of story she will tell Glen to get them to turn against Chucky. And with Kyle being so close to Nica/Chucky, I wonder what she’s got planned when it comes to handling such a dangerous serial killer.

The teens over at the Incarnate Lord also have a new Chucky doll coming for them. All of these storylines converging down the line make me very excited about the finale!
