Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 1×124 Review – Decision Time

Okay, I want the current Boruto anime arc to end already. While ‘Decision Time’ did have some enjoyable moments, the overall episode was a drag. Also, why is Urashiki wasting time playing around with kids?

‘Decision Time’ was all about Boruto and Shinki trying to run away from Urashiki. The powerful villain could have killed the two in an instant. However, he decided to toy with them and the entire episode turned into a cat-and-mouse chase with our heroic ninjas trying to outsmart Urashiki.

Even though I still feel the current arc has gone on for too long, I did enjoy the strategies Boruto and Shinki came up with. Boruto isn’t as strong as Naruto (yet), but he is smarter than his father. So, I enjoyed the trickery Boruto used to distract Urashiki to give Shinki enough time to temporarily seal their pursuer.

The way Boruto used a Shadow Clone, as well as the Transformation Jutsu, during his fight was impressive.

That’s the kind of thing I like seeing in an anime about ninjas. Yes, problems can be solved with brute force, but it’s always fun to see characters using other methods. Ninjas are supposed to be about tricks and misdirections. So, kudos to Boruto.

Also, the plan Boruto thought of at the end was impressive, too. Of course, it won’t work well when faced with a powerful enemy like Urashiki, but still, more ninja trickery, please! We used to have a lot of it when Naruto began.

‘Decision Time’ also showed Boruto’s personality rubbing off on Shinki. Gaara’s son still has a lot to learn when it comes to balancing being a ninja and maintaining friendships, but he’s getting there. I liked how he regretted leaving Boruto to handle Urashiki. It’s obvious he’s going to come back to help the titular character.

Also, Sasuke needs to teleport to the kids already. Having him still stuck in another dimension reeks of plot convenience.

Another thing the current arc has made me realize is how important having a medical ninja on your team is. Many fans don’t consider medical ninjas to be of any use (Sakura continues to be ignored by most of the fandom), but their value can’t be stressed enough, especially during extremely dangerous missions. Here’s to hoping Salad follows in her mother’s footsteps and learns some life-saving medical jutsus.

Maybe Mitsuki can learn a couple of healing techniques? I just want a healer on Boruto’s team.

Anyway, what did you think of ‘Decision Time’? Let us know.
