Discover Your Powers with the “Cursed” Virtual Experience

Discover CursedIn celebration of the launch of their new show Cursed, Netflix has announced the Discover Cursed Virtual Experience, which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the series as well as a unique experience you can get right from your own home.

Cursed, based on the hybrid novel from author Tom Wheeler and artist Frank Miller, is a re-imagining of Arthurian legend focusing on Nimue, aka the Lady of the Lake. The series, starring Katherine Langford as Nimue, debuted today on Netflix and consists of ten approximately hour-long episodes. The Discover Cursed Virtual Experience allows you to explore the world of Cursed with background on the show, the characters, and the creators.

“About the Series” will give you a synopsis of the show along with relevant information from the Arthurian legend. “Meet the Characters” allows you to scroll through the important characters and get a bit of their background. “A Conversation with the Cast” is a video featuring the cast and Wheeler as they talk about “secrets, mysteries and fun facts of the show”. “Videos” obviously contains a number of featurettes, including a behind-the-scenes look and a video of Frank Miller drawing.

The “virtual experience” aspect of the site comes in with the three challenges that help you discover your powers. On the homepage, you are invited to “Take the Challenge”. You are first invited to choose between Water and Fire. Then you are given the option to Grow or Destroy. The third challenge is to pull the sword from the stone. After each challenge you can take a screenshot, and you get a brief clip from the show.

The first time I did the challenges, I chose Water and Grow. I tried to do every option but I had a few issues (you are told “tap on a surface to begin” but no matter how or where I tapped, it didn’t work) so I wasn’t able to see everything. However, I suspect that most of the options are the same. (For example, even if you choose Fire, if you choose Grow, you still grow roots.) The filters are slightly different, especially once you initially make your choice. (And if I’d known I’d be taking a selfie today, I would have maybe brushed my hair.)

You can only get the full experience on your mobile device (I was unable to view the entire page on my laptop – or scroll to see what was cut off – and the challenges are only available on mobile), so check out DiscoverCursed.com or scan the QR code in the image above.

Cursed is currently streaming on Netflix. If you’ve already seen it, let us know what you think!
