Fans probably aren’t going to get that Hawkeye Netflix series they so desperately desire, but One Riot One Ranger Productions have the next best thing:

A fan film featuring all your faves from Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Hawkeye series, including Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, Lucky the Pizza Dog, and the Tracksuit Draculas. Cool huh?

Here’s how the creators describe the film:

“Based on the classic comic book run by Matt Fraction and David Aja, Hawkeye is a fan film made out of love and for exhibition purposes only. Hawkeye and its characters are owned by Marvel Comics. Our goal was to show our love and appreciation for characters we have read for years.

Hawkeye (Clint Barton) has the day off and he just wants to waste the day messing with unimportant tasks around his apartment. That is until Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) shows up to drag him off to something he doesn’t want to do.”

Made with love, it’s pretty clear that One Riot One Ranger Productions are fans of Fraction and Aja’s popular Hawkeye run. They’ve managed to capture the tone perfectly; luckily the low-key style of the comic works well with the low-budget indie style of the film. It might even work better than the sleek production seen in Netflix’s Jessica Jones and Daredevil.

There’s been a movement to see Fraction and Aja’s interpretation of Hawkeye get a live-action treatment. It seems unlikely, though, considering Joss Whedon seems to have based his interpretation of Clint Barton on the Ultimate Marvel version of the character, especially in Avengers: Age of Ultron. And Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD seems to have adapted some of Clint’s characteristics for their version of Lance Hunter.

But when the powers that be won’t give you what you want, the fans will step and fill the void. One Riot One Ranger Productions’ Hawkeye fan film fills that void pretty well.
