FEELINGS Daily: Mulan, Hawkgirl, and Maisie Williams!

Obviously, we’re all really upset about Zayn’s betrayal, but if you look around you will see that some seriously awesome stuff happened today. So while some of my FEELINGS are still kind of sad about One Direction, the rest of me is FEELING pretty happy about everything else.

Hallelujah! Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams is going to be guest starring in Doctor Who! How awesome is that? (via BBC)

AWESOME NEWS, FANGIRLS! Disney is developing a live-action Mulan movie! If you don’t think this is the greatest news ever, then you need to re-evaluate your priorities. The news is only hours old but already every single actor of Asian descent has been fancast in the role. I don’t care who gets the role, I’m just SUPER EXCITED that it’s happening… and now I have to go rewatch Mulan for the 100th time. (via Variety)

The Mortal Instruments is getting a second chance after that disastrous film adaptation. ABC Family has commissioned a spinoff television series titled Shadowhunters. The synopsis reads as follows: Shadowhunters “follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.” (via Hypable)

While I’m personally not a massive fan of Cassandra Clare’s novels, I know a lot of people that will be very happy about this development, so I’m excited for them. Plus anything that brings more bisexual POCs into our lives is okay by me. Shadowhunters is set to begin filming this May in Toronto.

OMG the news just keeps getting better and better because Ciara Renée has been cast as Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl in the proposed Arrow/Flash spinoff series. You know the one that features Caity Lotz… and others. Now, I’m somewhat of a DC novice but even I know Hawkgirl is pretty cool and the fact that we are getting a WOC as a superhero! That’s just icing on the cake. Also she has wings. WINGS! (via The Mary Sue)

In case you needed anymore reason to be excited about that Arrow/Flash spinoff then hear this – Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill has been cast as Rip Hunter! HELP MY HOPES ARE GETTING TOO HIGH FOR THIS SHOW! (via Hypable

Take a behind the scenes look at Australia’s first Eurovision postcard (yes this is going to keep being a thing, just embrace it already). (via SBS)

Check it out! Here’s a pic of Doctor Who writer Catherine Tregenna at her first read through!

John Oliver perfectly sums up my feelings about April Fool’s Day in this vid. I HATE IT! It’s the worst. (This might be a good time to remind you that The Geekiary is a collective of people with different views so while I might HATE April Fool’s Day and everything it stands for, I don’t speak for my colleagues).

GUESS WHAT? We have some more news about Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk’s Indiegogo funded web series Con Man. According to Nerdist, ALL these awesome people are set to appear: Sean Maher, Gina Torres, Seth Green, Felicia Day, Amy Acker, and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. As well as Battlestar Galactica‘s Tricia Helfer and Michael Trucco, The Walking Dead‘s Emily Kinney, Terminator 2: Judgement Day‘s Robert Patrick, Austin Powers‘ Mindy Sterling, Uncharted‘s Nolan North, and Supernatural‘s Samantha Smith! Holy fangasm!

So that’s about all we have time for today, but just to end things on a super high! Let me express how excited I am that Kieron Gillen is bringing S.W.O.R.D. back in Siege!
