We Have Our First Look at The Walking Dead’s True Big Bad: Negan!

The Walking Dead's True Big Bad Negan

The Group on AMC’s The Walking Dead have survived quite a few threats – the Governor, Terminus, the Wolves…but nothing compares to the character who is known as The Walking Dead‘s True Big Bad: Negan.

WARNING: Slight spoilers for what may come in the future on The Walking Dead, including regarding The Walking Dead‘s True Big Bad.

It’s been pretty obvious for a while now that TWD was going to introduce Negan in season six, though to be honest I was hoping we’d at least catch a glimpse of him before the finale. At this point that clearly won’t be the case, though a leaked finale trailer gave us our first glimpse of The Walking Dead‘s True Big Bad.

One thing that I do like is that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is apparently a fan of TWD and has possibly even read the comics, because he was really excited about the idea of being cast as Negan – to the point where, when he was offered the part, they didn’t immediately tell him what part it was – but he “knew” it was Negan and agreed to do it right away. Yeah, the trailer only shows him for a brief moment, and he has just one short line: “Hi, I’m Negan”…but we also catch a glimpse of Lucille, and man does that moment give me the chills.

It’s hard to say which major characters are going to meet Negan face-to-face this season, though we do see Rick, Eugene, Aaron, Carl, and Abraham climbing out of the RV to face some of Negan’s men, and the person Negan introduces himself to appears to have dark hair (not that this narrows things down very much). It seems to me that it’s almost a toss-up whether The Walking Dead follows the comic book story lines or not, and they’ve certainly spent most of season six – particularly the last few episodes – tossing out not-so-subtle hints about all the characters who might possibly meet their fate at the hands – or rather, bat – of The Walking Dead‘s True Big Bad. I certainly have my theories, though part of me does wish that this time around they would stick with the comic book outcome.

Did you get to see the trailer before it disappeared from the Internet? Whose fate are you most concerned about? Let us know in the comments!

UPDATE: The first version of this article included the leaked promo spot; however, that video has since been removed. But of course we’re likely to all catch that glimpse after this Sunday’s penultimate episode of The Walking Dead Season 6!
