“From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” Season 3 – Blu-ray Set Review

From Dusk Till Dawn Season 3 Blu ray Review

The From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Season 3 Blu-ray set offers all 10 action-horror episodes along with a lot of extra content for fans to enjoy.

When From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series premiered back in 2014, it followed the plot from the original movie over the course of 10 episodes. That’s why the main story in season one felt a bit drawn out. However, going into the second season, the writers expanded the supernatural mythos and fleshed out the characters. With season 3 now complete, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series has become its own thing, still connected to the original film, but not afraid to try out new things to make it enjoyable.

The third season presents Amaru as the main antagonist. Supernatural fans might remember God’s sister from the show’s 11th season. She ends up possessing Kate, and that’s what played a major part in making the third season of From Dusk Till Dawn awesome to watch. It’s clear that Madison Davenport, who plays Kate, enjoyed having so much to bite into.

The writers really upped the momentum in season 3, and I hope the pace continues if and when season 4 premieres on the El Rey Network.

As for the extra content of the 3-disc Blu-ray set, there was a lot to satisfy fans. I really enjoyed the featurettes about the different demons and monsters of Xibalba. The makeup team puts a lot of effort in designing the creatures, and it shows when they appear on the screen. Here’s the entire list of extra features:

  • Audio Commentary with Cast & Crew
  • Season 3 Catch Up:
    • The Gecko Brothers
    • The Fullers
    • Freddie Gonzalez
  • Featurettes:
    • Carlos Madrigal Returns
    • Evolution of Kate Fuller
    • Monsters of Xibalba: Itzpa (Llorona)
    • Monsters of Xibalba: Xibalba 101
  • Inside the Episodes:
    • Monsters of Xibalba: Cipactli
    • Monsters of Xibalba: Skull Keeper
    • The Monsters of Xibalba: Olmeca
  • Season 3 New Characters
  • Trailers
  • When Sex Machines Collide
  • Season 3 Best Kills
  • Evolution of a Fight Scene
  • Deleted Scene

All three Blu-ray discs are presented in a 16×9 1.78 format. The visuals are crisp, which adds to the viewing experience, especially during the scenes shot in the dark. I didn’t experience any trouble with the sound (DTS-HD Master Audio). The dialogue is clear, and the action sequences are loud, just as they should be.

If you’re into gory supernatural action-horror TV shows, I recommend From Dusk Till Dawn. Each season is only ten episodes long so you can easily binge-watch.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series will be available on Blu-ray (SRP $49.99) and DVD (SRP 38.99) on 7th February, 2017. The episodes are also available via Digital HD.
