Frozen 2 and more in the latest Geekiary News Briefs

Welcome to the latest Geekiary News Briefs! I’ve got a lot to share with you all. Of course, Frozen 2 had a huge box office debut, but some people aren’t happy with Elsa’s treatment. Also, did Shane Dawson scam millions to buy his makeup? Let’s talk about all of that and more!

Of course, I’ll begin with the latest box office results. Frozen 2 is another success for Disney and it’s sure to enter the $1 billion club. Here’s to hoping we don’t have to wait long for Frozen 3. Also, for those wondering about how the House of Mouse decided to treat Elsa (and her sub-text queerness), I wrote an entire article about it

While we’re on the subject of box office results, word-of-mouth couldn’t save the new Charlie’s Angels. I know writer/director Elizabeth Banks blamed men for the movie not doing well. But, I mean, come on! At this point I think she realizes that her movie just couldn’t appeal to a substantial amount of people across the board, right?

Coming to the small screen (or streaming), I’m disappointed to report that the R-rated Harley Quinn animated series has straightwashed the lead as well as Poison Ivy. Sigh!

Also, for some reason, Netflix will release a mini-documentary series featuring Kevin Hart trying to get his life together after being called out because of his homophobic jokes. That’s exactly what the world needed! A cis-straight dude throwing a pity party for being called homophobic.

We finally got the title for the new The Walking Dead spin-off series. It will be called The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The title makes no sense to me. What do the writers want to say by using the term ‘World Beyond’? It’s not like the story is going to focus on how people are dealing with the zombie apocalypse in Asia or some other continent. The main series and the two spin-offs are still confined to the US. So, again, what’s ‘World Beyond’ supposed to mean?

The ‘Release the Snyder Cut’ fan campaign found a lot of traction last week. Even Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck tweeted about it. I’m not sure if we’ll ever get Zack Snyder’s cut of the Justice League, but oh well, you can’t blame a passionate fandom for hoping. Anyway, Henry Cavill was noticeably absent from taking part in the campaign and some fans weren’t happy about it.

Also, Cavill still says he’s Superman. However, I think Warner Bros. has moved on from him. Let’s see if Cavill makes a Superman cameo appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie because they are managed by the same team.

My theory is that Johnson played the long game and deliberately sabotaged Cavill’s Superman career by urging Cavill to ask for more money and weaken his relationship with Warner Bros. Why? So, that Johnson’s Black Adam (who is basically a POC Superman) gets all the spotlight and doesn’t have to worry about any competition. Again, it’s just my theory. Don’t come @ me.

Over in the YouTube beauty world, Shane Dawson finally released the finale of his ‘The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star’ documentary. Certain fans who expected a behind-the-scenes look at the toxicity in the beauty industry were disappointed with what Dawson offered. For some, the entire documentary series was nothing more than a commercial for Dawson’s new makeup line with Jeffree Star.

In a sense, a majority of the content was about a millionaire crying about why he wasn’t as rich as other millionaires.

I can’t with rich influencers releasing somewhat expensive stuff for their fans to buy and saying that it isn’t about the money.

Sure, Jan.

Anyway, YouTuber D’Angelo Wallace has released a video that can help present things in a different perspective regarding what Dawson might have been really up to.

Have you watched Frozen 2 yet? Did you buy Shane Dawson’s makeup?
