It’s October, and there are lots of scary movies to watch all over the place. I recently had a chance to talk with actress Kristina Anapau about her new horror film Altergeist. Anapau is best known for her roles as Galina in Black Swan and Sheriff Andy’s fae baby mama Maurella on True Blood, but this Hawaiian beauty is taking us along for a paranormal investigation at a haunted winery, and trying out her entrepreneur skills with her new fashion line, Color It New.

Erin: Altergeist looks spooky. Did you enjoy taking on a role in a horror film?1780650_10152459907321795_7946031358013813737_n

Kristina Anapau: It was a lot of fun to shoot and we shot at an actual haunted winery which made it even better!

Erin: It looks like your role as Theresa is quite physical. Did you find that challenging? What was the most difficult thing you did for the role?

KA: There was a lot of running! A scene may just look like me quickly running through a vineyard or down a hallway, but what people forget is that we had to do 10-20 takes to get that shot from all the right angles, etc. Challenging, but I loved every minute of it. I think I had lost about 10 pounds by the end of the shoot!

Erin: Are you a big horror fan? What gets you in the mood for Halloween?

KA: I really love psychological thrillers. Well, my birthday is the day before Halloween, so I’ve always had a lot of fun combining the two.

Erin: Tell me a little about Color It New. I checked out the website and it is such a cool idea! What inspired you?

KA: Thank you! I had a last-minute red carpet event to go to a few years back, and didn’t have the right pair of shoes for the dress I was wearing. I thought “How great would it be if th10711039_10152459907061795_571511630777453185_nere was a product that would allow someone to transform a pair of shoes to whatever color they wished at the last minute by themselves at home?”  I looked online the next day for products that could and couldn’t really find anything, so I found a chemist and got to work.

Erin: What are your hopes for Color It New—besides it being in the closet of every female—seriously, it sounds awesome!

KA: I think being in the closet of every female is an excellent place to start!

Erin: One quick True Blood question—what did you think of the series ending? Did you watch the finale?

KA: I was just as upset as all our amazing Trubies out there were when the series ended. It was such an amazing, iconic show. I did watch the finale. I hope they do a follow-up TV special or a film—so many things I’d like to see resolved! (laughs)

Erin: What’s next for you? Will we see you in any more horror films?

KA: A period piece is next—takes place in the 70’s and shoots on Maui, which will be a lot of fun!

Thanks so much for your time!

Altergeist will be in theaters on November 7th. You can also learn all about Color It New at coloritnew.com or on Twitter at @coloritnew.
