“Godzilla Minus Zero” Gets Intense Trailer Before November Debut!

Fans of the Godzilla Minus live-action film series just got treated to a highly enjoyable trailer for the upcoming Godzilla Minus Zero flick, ready to hit theatres come November 3, 2026.

Serving as a direct sequel to 2023’s (Best Visual Effects Oscar-winning) Godzilla Minus One, the upcoming movie picks up about 2 years after the events that transpired in the prequel. Godzilla is back, but this time around, there might be another iconic monster entering the chessboard.

For those who might not be familiar, Godzilla Minus One was set in 1945, near the end of World War II, with the King of Monsters showing up quite angry and the narrative concluding with the monster’s apparent defeat in 1947. The human storyline followed kamikaze pilot Kōichi Shikishima, Noriko Ōishi, and a baby girl named Akiko.

The sequel will still follow the Shikishima family. Fingers crossed, they get a somewhat happy ending once the dust settles. They have been through it! However, I won’t hold my breath considering it’s a devastating kaiju film.

The newly released trailer talks about how the humans won’t get a third chance to defeat Godzilla. But considering how the first movie went on to gross an estimated $116 million worldwide against a reported production budget of $10 million, I’m sure another Godzilla movie will be announced soon.

Even though the trailer has the humans getting ready to face the iconic kaiju again! You can tell that there’s more than one monster involved this time around. The lightning strikes and that roar? Yeah, I easily clocked King Ghidorah. Also, Monster Zero, basically this movie’s title, is an alias of King Ghidorah. So, get ready for that three-headed alien making Godzilla’s life a lot harder while humanity gets caught in the crossfire.

Now, if only Mothra somehow manages to show up! I will scream!

Godzilla Minus Zero has been directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki. The cast includes Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Min Tanaka, Hidetaka Yoshioka, and Masami Nagasawa.

The movie is scheduled to have a world premiere at the 2026 New York Film Festival on September 26, 2026, followed by a theatrical release in Japan on November 3, 2026 (Godzilla Day), by Toho. It is also the first-ever Japanese production filmed for IMAX.

The North American debut will occur on November 6, 2026, by GKIDS and Toho, marking this the first time a Godzilla film opened in the same week in NA and Japan.

Once fans have enjoyed this particular movie, they have Godzilla vs Kong: Supernova to look forward to on March 26, 2027. That project serves as a sequel to 2024’s Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire (which I did enjoy watching). Written by David Callaham and directed by Grant Sputore, the cast includes Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O’Connell, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Delroy Lindo, and Sam Neill (posthumous role).
