HBO To End Series With ‘Looking: The Movie’

Looking

Fans of Looking were saddened earlier this year when the series seemingly ended after two seasons. We now have news that we are going to get proper sendoff with Looking: The Movie.

Looking was a refreshingly real look at a group of friends and lovers in the gay community of San Francisco. After not getting picked up for a third season, things looked bleak following the season two finale. It just didn’t feel like a series finale. Luckily, HBO announced that will get a film to give the series the ending it deserves.

According to Collider, Looking: The Movie will air on HBO on Saturday, July 23. Details also have emerged regarding the storyline which will take place one year after the events of the season two finale. Things look good for Patrick who will return to San Francisco after some time away.

The great news is that it seems the main cast will make their return, featuring Jonathan Groff. The film will be written by series executive producer Andrew Haigh and creator Michael Lannan, meaning that we will hopefully be able to pick up right where we left off.

I am very excited for this news as I feel that Looking was an oft-overlooked series with its writing and acting. I cannot wait to see if Augustin and Eddie are still together, and if Dom and Doris made up. Of course, the big question is who Patrick will end up with: Kevin or Ritchie…or someone else. Knowing Patrick, it will probably be someone else, but he will likely be tempted by Ritchie upon returning.

No matter how the stories end, I am looking forward to this final chapter in the series. Looking is one of those series where we got to see the characters with such intimacy that we effectively became part of the family, so any additional time I get to spend with them will be treasured.
